Mansukhbhai Suthar
City: Rajkot
State: Gujarat
Description:

The innovator has developed a unique, lightweight and compact 3.5 HP, single cylinder, 4-stroke diesel engine with many significant facets. It is compact, portable, powerful, lightweight and affordable diesel engine with varied applications. The engine was mounted on a Rajdoot motorcycle, which achieved an average speed of 55 km per hour and fuel consumption of 100 km per liter.

The innovator of the small efficient diesel engine, Shri Mansukhbhai Suthar, is an illiterate (he has studied only till class 2) mechanic genius in engine technology. He has experience of about 40 years in repairs of all kinds of engines.

Salient features:
  • Compact size, 2/3d the size of conventional engines and half the weight (24 kgs)
  • Major components such as engine block, cylinder heads are made of aluminum alloy components with compact piston, flywheel and cylinder
  • Air cooled engine
  • Compression ratio of 20:1 achieved with direct injection
  • Ratio of stroke length to bore diameter is less than 1 compared to conventional units where it is greater than 1. This results in higher inertia of the engine governor
  • The compact design of the plunger guide has reduced the number of gears needed
  • The compact design of the piston reduces weight and has increased speed
  • Shorter crank rod has reduced stroke length and increased speed
  • Reduced diameter of the Injector and number of holes achieve injection at higher pressure for better combustion
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting is easy
