Description :

In many remote villages of India and other developing countries, women are carrying filled water vessels from well (or any other source of water) to their home and cover a great distance several times to meet daily water requirement of their family for drinking, washing etc. Women carry this load on their head, which can result in pain in their head. Also, the load can neither be put on the head nor can be put down without any help from some one else. This compulsion makes it very difficult to take rest in route to their residence, as they cannot put the vessel down even if they are tired and feel like taking rest.

The concept of the product is generated in an Idea competition organized at IIT Chennai. A problem of carrying water was given to students as a challenge. As results, some students gave an idea of water jacket, but that required some modification. Innovator Shri Madhav Sawant took interest and developed innovative Jalpari.

This product is made up of two plastic containers, each having 10-liter water capacity. Both containers are attached by two rods, which rest on shoulders of the carrier. To make the rods convenient in carrying, it is covered by good quality spongy band. Along with all this the product is also facilitated by tap, which provide water outlet.

Advantages :
  1. The weight gets shifted from head to shoulder, hence problem of neck pain is eliminated
  2. Both hands remain free, so side-by-side other things can also be carried conveniently.
  3. Drudgery reducing devise
  4. Mitigate the problem of back pain.

This unique product gives many advantages to women’s, which can make there routine work easier. We request NGO’s working for drudgery reduction involved in women task to disseminate this product.
