In villages, rural women and children are used to collect the gum from the tress as a part of their income generation activity. The main sources of the gum are the thorny trees “Prosopis juliflora “- locally known as “Gando Baval” in Shri Khimjibhai Kanadia was present in the workshop organized by SRISTI with women group of SEWA, where this problem was raised. He came out with a simple solution of gum scrapper, which he improvised further through his creativity. He conceived the idea of attaching a saucer shape plate along with sharpen blade on the top of bamboo stick, which prevented gum from falling on ground. This
leads in increasing the market price of gum and also helps in saving women from
immense pain | ||
